LeRoy and Lewis Barbecue’s impressive resume tells you all you need to know about the outstanding talents & influence of Chef Evan LeRoy on Texas’s dining ecosystem & reputation. To name only a few recent accolades: #2 on Texas Monthly’s coveted Top 50 Barbecue Joints in 2025 (#5 in 2021), James Beard semifinalist (Best Chef: Texas, 2025), and a Michelin star (2024) to boot (What a list!). All this impressive hardware aside, Evan was on Obra’s radar for collaboration because of his natural ability to connect with fans by inviting them behind the scenes of the L&L legendary food truck, his international travel outings, and L&L’s distinguished brick & mortar restaurant. As fans, Obra Fam learned about these adventures through L&L’s video series (we highly encourage checking out their YouTube page here). As YouTube fans, Obra saw an opportunity to enhance Evan’s At Home video series by building a custom Obra Elements Kitchen Island worthy of his tutorials & decadent food creations. We pitched the collaboration to Evan, and he and his lovely wife, Lindsey, were ready for the journey.
Working collaboratively, we designed and built a custom piece that addressed several key needs for their kitchen. We increased the size of drawers and shelves to accommodate large kitchen gadgets that previously lacked designated storage - a challenge we hear from most of our clients. Evan and Lindsey opted for wheels on their Obra Elements Kitchen Island. We took care to harmonize the wood tones with the existing warmth of their kitchen.
We received invaluable feedback from Evan & Lindsey on the necessities of home-cooking furniture. Their wisdom is instilled in our our best-practice modules for kitchen islands.
After a smooth install, we enjoyed an incredible, hearty feast at LeRoy & Lewis Barbecue Restaurant. We were left day-dreaming of our next meal at the restaurant (of which there have been many).
We look forward to cheering on Evan, Lindsey, and the broader L&L team as they continue to elevate, lead, & inspire the Texas dining scene.
We requested a basic recipe to feature their custom Obra Kitchen Island, and instead, Evan & Lindsey threw us a good ol’ fashioned neighborhood BBQ - talk about Texas hospitality!
